Somerset Celebrates Reopening of STH 35 with Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

As fall colors peaked in Somerset last week, so did the STH 35 reconstruction project. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on October 21 to celebrate the reopening of STH 35 and the Apple River Bridge. The event also included food vendors, live music, trivia, and a historic bridge photo walking tour.

CORRE provided construction oversight and inspection services for the complex multi-staged 1.2-mile project which involved complete reconstruction and included curb and gutter replacement, sidewalks, storm sewer, sanitary sewer, water main, and traffic signals at the STH 35/Main Street intersection. In addition, new lighting and a new shared-use path were also included.
