CTH S Reconstruction/Recondition

CTH S Reconstruction/Recondition, CTH K to E Flowage Lake Rd
Transportation | Roadway Design

CORRE completed the design work for this 3-mile-long roadway reconstruction and reconditioning project that significantly improved safety. This project consisted of two segments. The southern segment included pulverizing and overlaying the roadway on existing alignment. The northern segment included full roadway realignment through the Vilas County forest. Several 90-degree curves were removed and the roadway was relocated up to 1,000-feet off of the existing alignment.

Coordination with Vilas County, the Town of Conover, and the Vilas County Forestry Department was required. Portions of the existing alignment were turned over to the Town and in other areas the roadway was obliterated and returned to the Forestry Department.

Design included roadway alignment and profile improvements, culvert replacements and stream realignment, and intersection reconstructions. Several town road intersections were realigned and reconstructed in the northern segment to improve sight distance.

CORRE also completed the Section 106, agency coordination, and wetland delineation for the project.
