USH 12/CTH AB Interchange

USH 12/CTH AB Interchange & Overpass Construction
Transportation | Construction Services

CORRE provided construction oversight and inspection services for this high-complexity multi-staged project which reconstructed USH 12/18 and CTH AB to a diamond interchange and added a new exit ramp to Millpond Road and two one-mile-long frontage roads. The project improved safety by eliminating two at-grade intersections that had some of the highest numbers of severe crashes in the Madison area.

Project elements include interchange construction with four roundabouts, extensive grading, marsh excavation, storm sewer, multiple storm water retention ponds, erosion control, HMA pavement, concrete pavement, lighting, a new 2-span bridge with decorative rail, concrete staining, concrete panel retaining walls, 10 overhead sign structures, concrete barrier wall, sidewalk, sanitary sewer, water main, base patching, boring of sanitary under USH 12/18, and permanent signing.

The project was constructed in stages and included nighttime work for the pipe crossings. The team solved issues arising during grading operations and provided extensive utility coordination to resolve conflicts with various utility companies. CORRE also maintained a safe site for the traveling public by proactively adding and modifying the traffic control devices to fit the needs of each stage.

Coordination was required with various City of Madison departments as they specified items to meet their requirements. CORRE also sent out weekly updates to the public/stakeholders to keep the traveling public safe and informed. The project’s schedule and budget were maintained using proven project control tools to review and track submittals, RFIs, and change management for quick approvals.
