27th Street Rehabilitation, 8 Mile Road to Elm Road
Transportation | Roadway & Structure Design
This rural and urban rehabilitation project extends from 8 Mile Road to Elm Road on STH 241 in the Village of Oak Creek and included the 27th Street bridge over the Root River.

Project components included milling and overlaying pavement, bridge rehabilitation, and the addition of a westbound auxiliary lane on West Elm Road. Other elements included storm sewer, signing, pavement marking, grading for a future sidewalk, debris removal, deck replacement, concrete surface repairs, and drainage and erosion repairs on the wingwalls.
CORRE wrote a 30% analysis memo to assess the viability of the scoping team’s design options. As a part of this, CORRE performed a complete storm sewer analysis on Elm Road to determine if the existing system had the capacity to handle an additional lane of run-off. It was determined that there was sufficient capacity and so the new design connects into the existing system.
