National Surveyors Week

To celebrate this year’s National Surveyors Week, we are highlighting CORREโ€™s recent opportunity to provide ground control services to WisDOT for two upcoming flight surveys on USH 18 & USH 151, spanning Dane, Iowa, Columbia, and Dodge Counties.

Prior to the flight, CORREโ€™s surveyors go out in the field to set semi-permanent markings in predetermined locations along the designated flight path.

Once ground controls are set, WisDOT is able to quickly collect wide swaths of survey data utilizing a fixed wing aircraft equipped with aerial LiDAR and cameras. The data collected includes topographic information of the road and surrounding area sufficient to create a 3D surface model of the corridor.

The 3D model is then used in the planning and design of WisDOT projects, helping to increase accuracy and efficiency, saving time and reducing project costs.
