I-39/90 SB Reconstruction Project Wins 2020 Gold Award Through ACPA’s National Excellence in Concrete Pavement Program

Congratulations to Trierweiler Construction and Supply, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, and CORRE’s own Jason Lauters for winning the National Excellence in Concrete Paving Gold Award from American Concrete Pavement Association (ACPA) in the category of Divided Highways – Rural for the SB I-39/90 reconstruction project. The American Concrete Pavement Association (ACPA) sponsors the “Excellence in Concrete Pavement” award program and this year the Association recognized 28 projects that demonstrated hard work, outstanding quality, and creative approaches to problem solving by contractors, agencies, and engineers.

CORRE, Inc. is honored to have provided construction oversight and inspection services for this $41M 7.8-mile highway reconstruction project that expanded southbound I-39/90 to 3 lanes from Madison south toward the Illinois State line. Work included major grading, concrete pavement, bridge replacements, staged box culvert and MSE wall construction. This project also incorporated some unique aspects in construction including the installation of a brand-new Weigh-In-Motion system at the Madison Safety and Weight Enforcement Facility as well as special landscaping and native seeding along the corridor throughout Dane County.

“Thank you to Trierweiler Construction and Mashuda Contractors for their effort and workmanship throughout this project,” said Lauters, Construction Project Leader for CORRE. “They fought through some challenging weather last year and still delivered. Thanks to WisDOT for giving us the opportunity to provide construction oversight, and thanks to the project team – they were thorough, knowledgeable, and most importantly, brought a positive attitude each and every day. They were truly a pleasure to work with. Congratulations to Derrick, Dean, Chris, Daulton, Lamin, Howie, Pat, Joildo, Matt and Brooks!”
