USH 18 Beltline & Verona Road Interchange
Transportation | Construction Services
This high-complexity multi-stage urban project consisted of reconstructing 2.1 miles of the Madison Beltline as well as new bridges at the Verona Road / Beltline interchange while maintaining traffic without detour. The construction of the structures was staged in order to minimize traffic impacts. A 14-span multi-use steel truss and curved slab span bridge was constructed for pedestrians crossing over the Beltline. Through the use of staged pedestrian detours and conscious efforts by field staff, safe pedestrian access was made a priority throughout construction. CORRE provided construction oversight and inspection services.
Other notable work included extensive storm sewer construction, concrete barrier, lighting, frontage road reconstruction, full span and cantilever sign structures, staged MSE walls, and noise walls. The success of this complex multi-stage, multi-year project was due largely in part to the coordination efforts made between the construction engineers, design team, WisDOT Management, and city officials.
