CTH X Reconditioning

CTH X Reconditioning, 197th Street to CTH XX
Transportation | Roadway Design

CORRE completed the design of this three-mile rural reconditioning project. During preliminary design, several pavement treatments were considered and a pre-mill with cold-in-place recycle treatment of the remaining asphaltic material was chosen. During construction, when different existing pavement conditions were encountered CORRE worked with both Chippewa County and WisDOT to evaluate and revise recommendations.

In addition to pavement improvements, the initial design includes shoulder widening, ditching, culvert sizing, and intersection improvements at CTH X and CTH XX. CORRE completed an intersection evaluation to determine if geometric issues may have contributed to past accidents in the area. The evaluation prompted geometric changes including the addition of a curb and gutter to better delineate the roadway from the parking lot and removing parking stalls adjacent to an establishment at the intersection.

Due to the proposed earthwork and widening, a right of way plat was completed. In addition to survey and plat preparation, CORRE also completed real estate acquisition for the corridor.

STH 13, Cities of Colby and Abbotsford

STH 13, Cities of Colby and Abbotsford
Transportation | Construction Services

CORRE provided construction oversight and inspection services for this multi-stage project on STH 13 in Marathon County which consisted of replacing 90 non-ADA compliant pedestrian ramps with new ADA compliant ramps. The project also consisted of an urban two-inch HMA PWL mill and overlay operation done in multiple stages to fix the existing profile and cross slopes.

The project team solved issues arising during pedestrian ramp replacements and provided extensive coordination with the City of Colby’s watermain replacement project which took place within the project limits. CORRE coordinated project scheduling meetings with both cities and the contractors to ensure all projects would be completed on time.

Since the project occurred during local street festivals and over two major holidays, CORRE entered LCS lane closures and sent out weekly updates to the public/stakeholders to keep the traveling public safe and informed. CORRE also maintained a safe site for the traveling public by proactively adding and modifying the traffic control devices to fit the needs of each stage.

The project included staged construction, concrete sidewalk, concrete curb and gutter, pedestrian curb ramp replacement, asphaltic surface milling, PWL HMA pavement, HMA pavement longitudinal joints, pavement markings, and permanent signing.
