Charles “Steven” Melching is an environmental engineer with expertise in water quality, water resource management, hydrological modeling, and hydraulics. His diverse 30-year career spans a broad spectrum of work, including serving as a professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Marquette University and Rutgers University and as a hydrologist with the U.S. Geological Survey. He has performed numerous hydrologic and water quality studies in the Great Lakes region and world-wide. He has authored or co-authored seven books, 31 journal articles, and 35 technical reports. In 2012 he received the ASCE Outstanding Reviewer award from the Journal of Environmental Engineering. His extensive list of awards also includes the 2001 ASCE Huber Civil Engineering Research Prize and the 2008 Researcher of the Year Award from Marquette University. He is regularly invited to present at conferences world-wide.
