CORRE worked with WisDOT to oversee, process, facilitate, and close-out the most complex component of the Zoo Interchange project – the Core 1 Mega Project – which encompasses the intersection of US 45, I-894, and I-94.
This high-profile project is crucial to improving the safety and traffic flow of the Zoo Interchange. Opened in 1963, the oldest and busiest interchange in the state has more than doubled the maximum amount of traffic envisioned at that time. Improvements include 23 new bridges, 12 new retaining walls, additional through lanes on US 45, and additional lanes on connection ramps. Entrance and exit ramps have been moved to the right-hand lanes.
The size and complexity of this project tested every member of the team. CORRE construction administration personnel worked incessantly to overcome numerous challenges and close-out the project successfully. Our on-site team provided document review, pay item and material review, punch lists, and overall coordination with WisDOT’s program and project controls management team.
CORRE is thankful for the opportunity to play such a vital role on this crucial project.
