We are seeking a highly motivated, qualified, entry level engineer or landscape architect interested in working on multi-use trail and open space design in this rapidly growing division. This is an exciting opportunity to work on multi-disciplinary projects that can incorporate trails, boardwalks, bridges, wetlands, streambank restoration, stormwater and open space planning. You’ll be working with a team with landscape architecture, structural engineering, environmental science, survey, construction engineering and real estate backgrounds. In this position you’ll be helping design/improve transportation corridors and spaces for public enjoyment.

  • Assist in designing projects from concept through construction documents.
  • Support the team with day to day tasks associated with these multi-disciplinary projects. This includes, but is not limited to, design, site visits, cost estimating, report-writing, utility coordination, preparing exhibits for public involvement, and permitting.
  • Interact and communicate effectively with team members, clients and other agencies.
  • Handle multiple deadlines and producing high-quality work under tight schedules.
  • Potential for construction oversight opportunities with the park & open space projects.
  • Minimum of a four-year technical degree in civil engineering or landscape architecture.
  • Strong experience using AutoCAD software or similar.
  • Experience with GIS, Sketchup, and/or Infraworks a plus.
  • Experience with bicycle/pedestrian standards and/or WisDOT design standards is desirable.
  • Experience with public design/bidding.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License and be able to provide own means of reliable transportation.
  • Ability to travel as needed for team meetings, on-site inspections, etc.
  • Ability to walk and climb over rough terrain and carry up to 40 pounds.
